1990s Wild Brick

1990s Wild Brick raw puerh comprised of big leaves

HK storage

This old rustic production came plainly wrapped making this tea brick a bit of a mystery. The close up photo show the tea leaves do not have the rolled appearance that is typical of a big factory production. The tea brick is said to comprise of wild tea leaves which is not uncommon amongst small producers at the time. Drinking the tea I detect a mild to medium HK storage. The brew offers a mild creamy sweetness alongside a smooth and soft mouthfeel. There are notes of Chinese herbs, sweet vanillin, rhubarb, a soft wood alongside a hint of butyric goodness (it is quite amazing to see these overlapping notes as I am reminded of the more characterful age whisky). After a few cups the relaxed and grounding effect of old tea can be felt. This is an interesting one.
